Chandigarh,
8th December, 2016: Department of
Personnel, Chandigarh Administration has decided to replicate & implement
the project “Hum Chhuyenge Aasman” initiated by the State of Madhya Pradesh
which is one of the Projects who has won the Prime Minister’s award for Good
Governance. This initiative provides socio-psycho-spiritual, educational and
economic empowerment of women through excellence in sports. This is taken care
of by providing scientific training through expert Coaches, improving health
through balanced nutritional diet, free formal education to create employment
opportunities, attractive prize money and assured government jobs to athlete of
eminence.
Since there are no tribal areas in vicinity
of Chandigarh but substantial number of villages is available, Chandigarh
Administration has decided to replicate the scheme “Hum Chhuyenge Aasman” as
stated above by organizing Rural Sports Meet for women.
Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration
has been entrusted the responsibility of organizing Rural sports meet for women
for replication of “Hum Chhuyenge Aasman” for achievement of desired objectives
of Chandigarh Administration for Good Governance in Chandigarh.
The Sports Department, Chandigarh
Administration is organizing Rural Sports Festival for Women under the
project “Hum Chhuyenge Aasman” from
8.12.2016 to 10.12.2016 at Sports Complex, Sector 7, Chandigarh in the
following disciplines:-
1.
Athletics
Track Events- 100
Meters, 200 Meters, 400 Meters and 800 Meters
Field Events- Long
Jump, Shot Put
2.
Kabaddi
(National Style)
3.
Kho-Kho
4.
Volleyball
5.
Tug
of War
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd
position will be suitably rewarded with cash prize.
The Sports Meet will be inaugurated by Capt. Karnail Singh, PCS, Director Sports, UT
Chandigarh on 08.12.2016 at 10.00 a.m. at Sports Complex Sector 7, Chandigarh.
The Sports Department, Chandigarh solicits all people from rural and urban
areas of Chandigarh to encourage the Women participants of rural areas of
Chandigarh.
4 teams in Athletics, 9 in Kabaddi, 8
in Kho-Kho, 8 in Volleyball and 8 in tug
of war have confirmed participation in this first ever Sports Meet exclusively
for Women.
