Chandigarh, 2nd January, 2017: The Governor of Punjab and
Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh jointly with Member of Parliament, Smt. Kirron
Kher inaugurated “ANNAPURNA AKSHAYPATRA” a
project initiated by Indian Red Cross
Society, U.T. Branch, Chandigarh to provide affordable, hygienic and nutritious
diet to the labourers, Industrial workers and all the needy in the city with active
support of Health Department, Labour Department, Food & Supplies Department,
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., Bharat
Petroleum corporation Ltd., Sewa Bharti, Chandigarh., Panchkula Gaushala Trust,
Panchkula and Market Committee, U.T. Chandigarh.
Under
this project, a Kitchen Shed is erected at Karuna Sadan Building, Sector 11-B,
Chandigarh with total initial cost of the project of Rs.70 Lac. The required
infrastructure has been arranged through different philanthropists. The food will
be prepared and packed in kitchen set up at Karuna Sadan Building, Sector 11,
Chandigarh and daily distribution will be done at the following areas from 6
p.m to 9 p.m. The cost of Food Packet will be Rs.10/- each.

The
Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh, Sh. V.P Singh Badnore appreciated
the initiative taken by the Indian Red Cross Society, Chandigarh with active
support of Chandigarh Administration and different philanthropists towards this
noble cause for the welfarement of needy populace of the city. The Chief Guest also honoured all the donors for their
active support in effective implementation of this Annapurna Akshayapatra
Yojana.
Applauding the move of Indian Red Cross Society, Smt Kirron
Kher, Member of Parliament, U.T., Chandigarh decided to give five vans from the
MPLAD fund which would help in serving more people of the city.
On this occasion, Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the
Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh, Sh. Anurag Aggarwal, IAS, Home Secretary,
Chandigarh Administration, Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, Deputy
Commissioner-cum-Chairman, IRCS, Sh. Rajiv Gupta, PCS, Additional Deputy
Commissioner, U.T. Chandigarh, members of Managing Body of Red Cross, Red Cross
Volunteers and staff members were also present.
