GMCH-32 gets A Facility Integrated Anti-Retroviral Therapy Centre

Chandigarh, 18th January, 2017: Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore visited GMCH, Sector – 32, Chandigarh today and dedicated a number of facilities to the residents of city beautiful. Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to Administrator, Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Home Secretary-Cum-Secretary Health and Prof. Atul Sachdev, Director Principal, GMCH were also present on the occasion.

Constructed at a cost of Rs.32.00 Lacs by Paul Merchants under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) a Sarai by the name of “Panaah” was dedicated to the attendants of patients visiting GMCH. The Sarai has a capacity of 82 beds and is equipped with bed & bedding including separate facilities for males & females. The attendants of the patients will be nominally charged Rs.20.00 per day which will be waived off for poor and BPL patients. Food is also available at a nominal cost of Rs.25.00 per person at the Sarai. The current strength of Sarai beds has increased upto 146 as GMCH is already having another fully functional Sarai. 

The Administrator also dedicated a Computerized Radiography System (CR System) installed in the Department of Radio diagnosis for the benefit of patients visiting GMCH. This machine produces images of high contrast in less time as compared to conventional radiography.


A Facility Integrated Anti-Retroviral Therapy Centre (FI-ART Centre) was also inaugurated by Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore at OPD Area, Block-B in GMCH-32, Chandigarh in collaboration with State AIDS Control Society (SACS), Chandigarh.  With this GMCH is the only other institution besides PGIMER, Chandigarh to have this facility. This Centre works to improve access of HIV positive patients to ART services, reduce inconvenience, travel distance and at the same time rationalize & optimally utilize the resources available. The centre will stand out as a model centre of HIV treatment, care and support to HIV patients.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
