Meeting held regarding National Lok Adalats

Chandigarh, 20th January, 2017: National Legal Services Authority under the visionary Leadership of Hon’ble Justice Dipak Misra, Judge, Supreme Court of India & Executive Chairman, National Legal Services Authority, is organizing National Lok Adalat on 11.02.2017,  Chandigarh under the guidance of Hon’ble Justice Shiavax Jal Vazifdar, Chief Justice, Punjab and Haryana High Court and Patron-in-Chief,  State Legal Services Authority, U.T. Chandigarh,  Hon'ble Justice Surya Kant, Executive Chairman, State Legal Services Authority, Chandigarh and Hon’ble Justice M. Jeyapaul, Judge, Punjab and Haryana High Court, Administrative Judge, Chandigarh Sessions Division.

An elaborative meeting this regard was held under the Chairmanship of Sh. Balbir Singh, District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh, wherein officials from various Banks participated, so that the bank recovery disputes (including those which would fall under Section 138 of N.I. Act) can be taken up at pre-litigative stage and the matters which have potential to go to the Courts in a very short time can be taken up before the National Lok Adalat. The Advocates on panels of various banks also participated in this meeting. Sh. Amarinder Sharma, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, U.T.. Chandigarh, informed that the following types of cases (pre-litigation and pending) shall be taken up for settlement in the aforesaid National Lok Adalat:-

Criminal Compoundable Offence
N.I. Act cases under Section 138
Bank Recovery Cases
MACT cases
Matrimonial Disputes
Labour Disputes cases
Land Acquisition cases
Electricity and Water Bills (excluding theft cases), Services matters relating to pay and allowances and retrial benefits
Revenue cases
Other civil cases (rent, injunctions suits, specific performance suits) etc.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. 'X’ houses will be covered in the coming days too to track the unimmunized children and give them polio drops. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
