Seminar by Chandigarh Disaster Management Authority

Chandigarh, 17th January, 2017:  The Chandigarh Disaster Management Authority organized a Seminar on "Building Capacities for Disaster Resilient Chandigarh" today which was inaugurated by H.E. V.P. Singh Bandore, Governor Punjab & Administrator U.T., Chandigarh in the august presence of Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Home Secretary, Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Rajiv Gupta, PCS, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Smt. Asha Jaiswal, Mayor along with senior officers of the Chandigarh Administration at Hotel Shivalik View, Sector 17, Chandigarh.
H.E. V.P. Singh Bandore, Governor Punjab & Administrator U.T., Chandigarh during the inaugural address in the seminar said, “A disaster can never be predicted, but we must be prepared for it. I appreciate the efforts that are put in by our armed forced during any such situation”. He further said that time is the main essence during such disasters but if people are prepared to handle the situation then loss can be minimized.   The Administrator expressed his happiness over the organization of such an important seminar.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, said, “The city must be capable to handle any kind of disaster at any time. To Prevent and be prepared for any disaster, are the two mantras which can help tackle the situation”. He further added that such a seminar will make  people learn how to be preventive during such disasters till official measures are taken.
The seminar saw the august presence of eminent IAS, IPS, IFS Officers, Professors/Consultant from NDMA, Professor from Panjab University and officers from armed forces. The speakers with great experience and knowledge spoke during the seminar and shared their experiences with the participants on how to manage disaster. The speakers during the daylong seminar were:

 An Exhibition on Life Saving Equipments was also organized by Chandigarh Disaster Management Authority wherein NDRF, GMSH-16 & 32 Medical College displayed their Life Saving Equipments and preparedness to rescue and save the life of the victims.
