Budget for the Financial Year 2017-18

Chandigarh, 1st February, 2017: The Budget for the Financial Year 2017-18 allocated under the Capital and Revenue Sections as Govt. of India has done away with the system of Plan and Non-Plan. The total Budget allocated in 2016-17 was Rs. 3937.79 Cr.  comprising of Rs. 444.71 Cr. under Capital and Rs. 3493.08 Cr. under Revenue.

Fund allocated in the financial year 2016-17 was Rs. 3937.79 Cr which was increased to 4268.75 Cr. i.e. 8.40% increase over original funds allocated. The bifurcation of the increase allocation was: Rs. 200.00 Cr. for Land Acquisition, Rs. 100.00 Cr. for Kajauli Water Works and Rs. 30.96 Cr. for various objects like Wages, Supply & Material etc. 

In the financial year 2017-18, Rs. 4312.40 Cr. (Capital Head – 475 Cr. & Revenue Head – 3837.40 Cr.) has been provided by the Govt. of India.  The percentage increase is 9.51% over the last year original budget allocation (Rs. 4312.40 Cr. / Rs. 3937.79 Cr.).

The Major Distribution under the various sectors is as under:-

MUNICIPAL CORPORATION
Rs. 419.26 Crs. has been provided to the Municipal Corporation for meeting various Development works under different services. This includes Rs. 100.00 Crs. for Smart City and Rs. 50.00 Crs. for Kajauli Water Works.  

RURAL & URBAN DEVELOPMENT  

Rs. 260.55 Crs. has been provided for the improvement of rural as well as urban infrastructure.

The projects involved under rural development are as under:-

Operation and maintenance of rural sewerage network of 13 number villages.

Providing & rejuvenation drinking water tubwells in village Daria, Behlana, Khuda Jassu and Kaimbwala.

Construction, widening, strengthening and re-carpeting of Phirini and approach roads of 13 Villages.

Street Lighting through underground cable.

The projects involved in development of urban infrastructure are as under:-

Construction, widening, strengthening, maintenance of urban roads and national highways falling under the jurisdiction of Chandigarh.

Intelligent Traffic Management System.

Construction of New U.T. Secretariat Building.

Construction of Cycle Track, Footpath and way finding signage system within the city.

Preservation, restoration and illumination of Capital Complex.
Replacement of existing street lights with LED lights.
Revitalization of City Centre Sector – 17.
Carrying out works of water supply, sewerage and storm water drainage.
Construction of 66 KV Grid Substation at Diesel Power House, Sector-26, up-gradation of 33 KV Substation to 66 KV Substation in Sector-18, Sector-34.
Construction of smart grids, conversion of overhead systems with underground in Sector-8 as model project.
Construction of Judges Houses in Sector-10.
Construction of Multi Level Parking in Judicial Academy and holistic development of Punjab and Haryana High Court alongwith up-gradation of Court Rooms for various judges.

EDUCATION

Rs. 70.24 Crs. has been provided for development of infrastructure and other activities in Education Sector, the brief of which is as under:-

Improvement of quality education by developing e-contents alongwith digital teaching aids, providing work books to poor under graduate girl students and laptops.

Construction of Govt. High School in  PGIMER-Sec- 12, Village Maloya (pocket 1 & 2), Raipur Kalan, Mauli Jagran & in Industrial area Phase-III.

Construction of 3 New Mini Sports Complex in Sector 8, 19, & 21.

Construction of 5 Sports Complex in Sector 34,38,50,56 & Manimajra.

HEALTH

Rs. 52.35 Crs. has been provided for the development of infrastructure in Health Sector, the brief of which is as under:-

Construction of 50 bedded hospital in village Maloya & Construction of 100 bedded hospital in Sec-48.
Construction of Administration Block at GMSH- Sector 16.
Construction of 32 No. houses for GMCH Staff in Sector 48.
Construction of Academic Block Part-II in RIMH, Sector 31.
Completion of Mental Health Institute Sector 32.

TRANSPORT

Rs. 24.53 Crs. has been provided for purchase of Coronas and TATA make buses to strengthen the public transport system and constructions of depots.
Construction of Extension to ISBT in Sector-43.

ENERGY

Rs. 17.70 Crs. has been provided to ensure uninterrupted and better power supply under Solar City Programme.
