Section 144 Cr. P.C. Imposed

Chandigarh, 03rd February, 2017:  It has been made to appear to SDM (S) that a large number of commercial places/shops are using polythene/plastic bags including Non-woven material of Polypropylene 100% and Non-Biodegradable plastic bags in the area falling in the South Division, U.T., Chandigarh which is big danger to the lives of human beings and animals.
                   Sh.  Arjun Sharma, IAS (P), Sub Divisional Magistrate (South), U.T., Chandigarh in continuation of earlier order dated 11.12.2015 and in exercise of powers vested under section 144 Cr.P.C. in compliance with the orders of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), hereby impose complete ban on inter-alia use of plastic manufacturing, storing or any kind of plastic carry bags, Non-woven material of Poly propylene 100% and Non-Biodegradable plastic bags in the area falling in the South Division, U.T., Chandigarh.
                   No person including a shopkeeper, vendor, wholesaler or retailer, trader, hawker or rehriwala etc., shall use polythene/plastic carry bags for supply of goods in polythene/plastic bags including non-woven material of Poly propylene 100% and Non-Biodegradable plastic bags and further directs that no person shall manufacture, store, import, sell or transport polythene/plastic carry bags in the South Division, U.T., Chandigarh. This order shall come into force from zero hours on 04.02.2017, and shall be effective for a period of 60 days upto and including 04.04.2017.
