Allocation of Liquor Vends

Chandigarh, 4th April, 2017: The process for receiving tenders for the allocation of liquor vends in Chandigarh, begun on 02.04.2017 and ended today where the bidders submitted their applications at the Additional Town Hall Building, Sector-17, Chandigarh. The Administration had advertised 77 licensing units to be allotted for the year 2017-18. As per the details, a total of 80 bidders have submitted their applications against 53 licensing units.
                    The year saw a massive exercise carried out by the Department of Excise and Taxation, Chandigarh for identifying the existing liquor vends and locations that could not be put under allocation during the year 2017-18 owing to the recent Judgement of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India wherein the sale and service of liquor within 500 meters of the National and State Highways has been banned. After a detailed exercise, the Department could identify 77 such locations and consequently the tenders were called against each location.

                    The tenders were received in the presence of Sh. Arjun Sharma, IAS (P), Observer on behalf of Chandigarh Administration who supervised the whole process along with Sh. Rakesh Kumar Popli, PCS, Additional Excise and Taxation Commissioner cum Collector Excise and Sh. Ravinder Kaushik, Assistant Excise and Taxation Commissioner, Chandigarh. The tenders would now be opened on 05.04.2017 at Tagore Theatre from 10.00 AM onwards and the successful bidders would be required to deposit 40 percent of the total value of the bid amount within 7 days of allotment.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote".
