Chandigarh, 17th April, 2017:- Former High court Justice M.S Chauhan,
today joined as the Chairman of the Police Complaints Authority,
Chandigarh set up for redressal grievances of the residents regarding
complaints against police official/officer pertaining to death in police
custody , grievous hurt as defined in section 320, Indian penal code, Rape or
attempt to commit rape, arrest or detention without due process of law,
extortion, land/house grabbing or any incident involving serious abuse of
authority.
The complaint needs to be accompanied by affidavit and
supporting documents and can be presented in person or be dropped in the
complaint box. The authority shall hold sittings on
every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday however if any of
the 3 days happens to be public holiday then Police Complaint Authority shall
meet on the next working day.
Former High court Justice M.S Chauhan, Chairman Police
Complaint Authority, Chandigarh Administration said, "we will ensure that
all the complaints are resolved in fast track manner ensuring no pendency. We
are taking all efforts to make the system transparent so that no inconvenience
is caused to the residents of the city".
