Department of Higher Education Launched Joint online portal for Admission to Government & Private colleges
Chandigarh, 5th June, 2017: The Joint online
admission for year 2017-18 to under-graduate & post graduate colleges of Chandigarh
was inaugurated today by H.E Sh. V. P. Singh Badnore, Governor Punjab & UT
Administrator by launching the Joint online admission portal www.dhe.chd.gov.in at UT Secretariat
in the presence of Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. M.P
Singh, IAS, Secretary to Governor of Punjab, Sh. Anurag Agarwal, IAS, Home
Secretary, Sh. K. K. Jindal, IAS, Secretary Education & Sh. Jitender Yadav,
IAS, Director Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration.
On this occasion H.E Sh. V. P. Singh Badnore,
Governor Punjab & UT Administrator appreciated the initiative of Department
of Higher Education in making the admission process simpler. He further said
“This step towards joint online admission will bring all the records of the
students online and will make the admission process more transparent and at the
same time efficient & paperless.”
For the first time private colleges have been part
of this joint online admission for year 2017-18 and this portal would further
simplify the admission process for the students by allowing them to download
prospectus of all colleges free of cost. This portal will be the gateway for
admission to the 6 Government Colleges & 6 Government aided Colleges of UT
Chandigarh. The colleges which are covered under which are covered under this
joint online admission portal are ; Post Graduate Govt. College for Girls Sector- 11 (PGGCG-11),
Post Graduate Govt. College Sector-
11 (PGGC-11, Co-ed), Regional Institute of English, Sector-32 (Co-ed), Post Graduate Govt. College for Girls
Sector-42(PGGCG-42), Post Graduate Govt. College Sector-46 (PGGC-46,Co-ed), Govt. College of Commerce and
Business Administration, Sector-50, Chandigarh(GCCBA-50), DAV College Sector-10, Sri Guru Gobind
Singh College Sector-26, Guru Gobind Singh College For Women Sector-26, Goswami Ganesh Dutta S.D. College,
Sector-32, MCM DAV College
Sector-36 and DEV SAMAJ
College For Women Sector-45.
Through this portal students who aspire to seek admission to
aforementioned colleges can submit their admission form with just a click of
the button and can also pay their admission fee online this portal. To make
online admission more convenient & hassle free for students, H.E Governor
Punjab & Administrator UT Chandigarh has also launched a mobile app “ e-Campus” which can be
download from Google play
store and students can easily fill their
admission form and can also make online
payment of their admission fee easily
through this mobile app. The online admission portal and mobile app has been
developed in-house by SPIC.
The Department of
Higher Education, UT, and Chandigarh joint admission portal will simplify the
admission process and undoubtedly will save students from the hassle of lining
up at colleges to buy and submit application forms. This portal has benefited
both local as well as out-of-town students who can now apply with just a click
of button at their convenience. The online application process is user friendly
which offers students a uniform platform for filling in their applications which
also provides prompts on mandatory fields and an option to edit the application
form in case of any typing mistake which reduces the chances of error in
filling the form to negligible. All that is required is access to a computer
with internet connectivity or a Smartphone with GPRS connection. Messy
handwriting, lack of postal connectivity, delay in courier delivery etc. are
unlikely to disrupt the application process. This is a great advantage to
candidates in rural areas and candidates with disabilities.
