Interactive session on ‘Demand your Bill- Campaign’

Chandigarh, 23rd June, 2017: As per the directions of Deputy Commissioner-cum- Director Food and Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Legal Metrology, U.T., Chandigarh an interactive session on ‘Demand your Bill- Campaign’ was organized by the Department of Food and Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Legal Metrology, U.T., Chandigarh in Govt. Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 16, Chandigarh in which the Principals/ Heads of all the government schools in the city participated. Sh. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director School Education, Smt. Saroj Metal, Deputy District Education Officer, and other officers of the Education Department were also present during the session.
          Detailed discussion was held amongst the participants on the issues of – Demand Your Bill, Maximum Retail Price (MRP), Consumer Rights and Responsibilities, and the complaints to be filed before the District Forum, State Commission & National Commission for settlement of consumer disputes. After the Q & A session, all the participants were suggested to start awareness campaign by delivering speeches in morning assembly, organizing quiz/chart making/debate competitions in all schools of U.T., Chandigarh, so that the society could be made ware through the students of the schools about ‘Demand your Bill- Campaign’.
Under the campaign, focus is on to encourage consumers to ask for/demand the bill from the seller against any purchase i.e. product/service made by them. The bill is helpful in the situation, when a consumer detects any discrepancy after the purchase of product/service; a complaint can be lodged on Consumer Helpline  No. 1800-180-2079 or Toll Free No. 1800-180-2068 for the same. As pr Consumer Protection Act, a written complaint can be lodged in District Forum and State Commission, Plot No. 5B, Madhya Marg, Sector-19, Chandigarh.

In response, as on date as many as 13 schools in U.T., Chandigarh have already started the campaign on ‘Demand your Bill’ and Consumer Awareness Programme in various ways such as Lecture and Poster making Competition, Dance-play, Painting Competition, Poster & Slogan Competition etc. and many more such programme are in pipe line of the rest of the schools.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
