Visit of officials from Ministry of Panchayati Raj

Chandigarh, 22nd  June, 2017: An Expert Committee constituted by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Govt. of India to develop future road map for Panchayati Raj Institutions in Union Territories visited U.T., Chandigarh today. The Committee under the Chairmanship of Dr. S.S. Meenakshisundaram,  Former Secretary to the Govt. of India visited village Behlana and interacted with the Gram Panchayat and others members of the village, he invited their suggestions for the improvement of Panchayati Raj Institution.  

Further during the day a meeting was held in the U.T. Guest House with officers of the Administration and the members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (Zila Parishad, Panchayat Samiti and Gram Panchayat).  The Adviser to the Administrator U.T Chandigarh Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS welcomed the Committee and apprised all the officers of the Administration and members of the PRI that the main objective of the Expert Committee is to develop Panchayati Raj Institution to prepare future roadmap. After hearing the representatives of the PRI, the Committee members were of the consensus view that  Capacity Building/Training of Gram Panchayats members will be initiated to unable them perform their duties and responsibilities in order to make them aware about their powers, duties and functioning of the Gram Panchayat.  

The Adviser to the Administrator approved holding of a training for the Gram Panchayats in the first week of July 2017 for which CRRID will make necessary arrangements. The Chairman of the Committee informed the representatives of PRI that the suggestions given by them will be considered and the same will be forwarded to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.  The Committee will visit village Daria on 23.6.2017 for interaction with the Gram Panchayat and residents of the village to know their suggestions for the up-liftment of the Panchayati Raj Institutions.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
