Kho-Kho & Kabaddi Tournament (for Boys & Girls U – 17 years) organized by Sports Department

Chandigarh, 17th July, 2017: Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration is organizing Kho-Kho / Kabaddi Tournament for Boys & Girls U – 17 from 17.07.2017 to 20.07.2017 at Sports Complex, Sector – 42, Chandigarh.
                   In kabaddi 15 teams in the boys section and 14 teams in the girls section are participating.  In the kho-kho event 11 teams from boys as well as 11 teams from girls are participating.  Participating teams are representing Schools of urban as well as rural Chandigarh.  Apart from that few clubs are also in the fray for the top honours.  For kho-kho as well as kabaddi events, cash prizes of Rs. 1500/- per head for winning team, Rs. 1000/- per head for runner up team and Rs. 750/- per head for 3rd position team have been earmarked. 
                   The tournament was inaugurated by Capt. Karnail Singh, PCS, Director Sports, Chandigarh Administration at 9.30 AM today morning.  Dr. Mohinder Singh, Joint Director Sports, Chandigarh Administration and Sh. Ravinder Singh, District Sports Officer, Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration, officials and teachers from various schools were also present.  Director Sports, Chandigarh Administration was of the view that in addition to modern games, traditional and contemporary sports of India like wrestling, Kho-kho, kabaddi etc. need to be promoted and preserved and it is in the agenda of Sports Department, Chandigarh Administration to create a physical and sports culture across the city in rural, urban and slum areas irrespective of age, ability and gender.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. 'X’ houses will be covered in the coming days too to track the unimmunized children and give them polio drops. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
