World Population Day

Chandigarh, 10th July, 2017: World Population Day is observed globally on 11th July every year. Chandigarh Administration is celebrating World Population Day tomorrow with the theme of “Nayi Lehar, Naya Vishwas, Sampoorn Zimmedari se Parivar Vikas” and observing a month – long period comprising of Mobilization Fortnight (27th June 2017- 10th July 2017) and Population Stabilization Fortnight (11th July 2017- 24th July 2017).

World Population Day is being celebrated for creating awareness amongst the public regarding family planning and motivating them to adopt small family norms through Health talks, Counseling and by Holding Mobilization Camps. The overall objective is to put emphasis on the importance of family planning and to reduce the consequent issues arising from the increasing population by making them aware of the hidden disaster of population explosion.     
    
In Mobilization Fortnight, many awareness generation related activities has been done by Department of Health & Family Welfare, U.T Chandigarh for making the general public aware about the stabilization of population.


State level celebration will be held tomorrow i.e 11th July, 2017 in the Auditorium of District Family Welfare Bureau, Sector 22, Chandigarh at 9:00 am. Dr. Rakesh Kashyup, Director Heralth & Family Welfare cum Mission Director, National Health mission, Chandigarh will preside over the function. Dr. A.K Janmeja, Director Principal of Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh will be the Chief Guest and Dr. Anil Garg, District Family Welfare Officer will present the introductory session of the Family Planning Programme.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. 'X’ houses will be covered in the coming days too to track the unimmunized children and give them polio drops. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
