Chandigarh, 26th September 2017: As per the orders of Designated
Officer, Food Safety Administration, a joint team of Food Safety Officers was
constituted for conducting inspection and sampling. The team inspected the
premises of Panjab University, Chandigarh on 25th September 2017.
Various food joints, hostel mess and canteens were inspected for their general
hygiene and quality standards.Six samples were lifted for analysis and examination
and a challan was made for un-hygienic and un-sanitary conditions for the
violation of the Act. On 26-09-2017 a team inspected various sweet shops in UT
of Chandigarh and samples of Khoya products were taken. The team also intercepted
one Tempo Three-wheeler at Sector 42, Chandigarh of M/s Krishna Sweets, Kharar,
Punjab supplying different types of sweets to the Food Business Operators of
Chandigarh. Samples of Pista Badaam
Burfi, Dhoda Sweets, Milk Cake, Kalakand Sweet, Khoya Burfi and Paneer were
taken in lieu of the coming festival season. The said seized samples have been
sent to the Food Analyst Laboratory for analysis & examination. The Food
Business Operators were also instructed to keep hygiene and quality standards
as per Food Safety & Standards Act, 2006 and were advised not to use any
prohibited colors in preparation of sweets and keep the food articles covered.
Chandigarh 10 th August 2017: In compliance of the directions of the Government of India to take steps for improvement of ranking in “Ease of Doing Business’ index, the Chandigarh Administration has notified Chandigarh Building Rules (Urban) 2017. The existing building byelaws/orders/notifications issued from time to time have been reviewed bya committee. Since amendments to the building Rules were never compiled before, therefore, comparative analysis of existing building byelaws applicable in Chandigarh was done viz-a-viz Haryana Building Code 2016, TCPO Model Building Byelaws 2016 and NBC 2017. This exercise has simplified the building Rules as each and every rule has been tabulated and individual chapters including Commercial, Residential, Industrial, Institutional, IT Park, High Rise buildings etc. The report had been earlier approved by the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh after seeking views from general public.
