SDM East Conducts Raids regarding Illegal Sale of fire Crackers

Chandigarh, 20th October 2017: Raids and inspections were conducted under the supervision of Sh. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Sub Divisional Magistrate (East), Chandigarh in the East Sub Division to keep a strict vigil at various locations regarding illegal sale of fire crackers and bursting of fire crackers outside permissible time limits. All SHOs were directed to provide adequate force, lodge FIR under relevant section against wrongdoers and get public announcement done through their patrolling vehicles in their respective jurisdiction.

07 cases were registered u/s 188 IPC for selling crackers without licence and 15 cases were registered u/s 188 IPC for bursting crackers outside permissible time limits in the area under the East Sub Division.  Inspections were also made for the sale of Chinese crackers/illegal fireworks at all the designated places of East Sub Division and cases were registered at various places regarding bursting of crackers after 9.30 pm.  Teams were strictly instructed for proper implementation and check for violation of order issued   u/s 144 Cr.P.C. in compliance of directions of Hon'ble Punjab and Haryana High Court in CWP No.23458 of 2017.

Regular meetings were conducted with officials and teams and were given copy of instructions/conductions regarding bursting of fire crackers during festival season, Noise (Regulation and Control) Rules, 2000, Explosive Rules, 2008 and directions issued by Hon'ble Supreme Court WP(C) No.72 of 1998 and to ensure cleanliness of eatables.

For compliance of the orders issued by District Magistrate, Chandigarh   separate teams consisting of Food Inspectors and Food Safety Officers inspected and challaned various shops in the East Sub Division including villages especially Hallomara, Daria, Makhan Majra, Kishangarh and Raipur Kalan.   3 quintal sweets were destroyed on the spot and 5 challans were issued for keeping unhygienic and un-sanitary conditions.
