Celebrations of Kala Utsav

Chandigarh, November 20, 2017: Kala Utsav is an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), to promote arts in education which plays a major role in creating awareness towards India’s rich cultural heritage and its vibrant diversity. The four days long extravaganza from 20th to 23rd November, 2017 was inaugurated at Govt. Model Senior Sec School -10A by Sh. Bansi Lal Sharma, IAS, Education Secretary, Chandigarh Administration. The event was graced by the presence of Sh. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, PCS, Director School Education; Ms. Saroj Mittal DDSE; Ms. Suman Sharma, DDVE; Delegates From Dadra and Nagar Haveli; Ms. Rajinder Kaur, DEO; Ms. Anujit Kaur, Deputy DEO I; Ms. Sukhneer Sekhon Deputy DEO II; Ms. Monika Maini, Deputy DEO III and Ms. Alka Mehta Mission Coordinator SSA.

On 20th November, 2017 Dance Competition, was organized at GMSSS- 10 under the host ship of, Principal-cum-Venue Coordinator Harbir Singh Anand. 19 teams from Govt as well as private schools of Chandigarh participated in the event. The judges who were acclaimed personalities from the field of dance critically evaluated each and every entry as per the guidelines specified by the MHRD/NCERT and gave an unbiased decision.

 This year, in order to promote national integration MHRD has taken an initiative to pair the states and the UTs in KALA UTSAV. On this occasion Chandigarh has been paired with Dadra & Nagar Haveli. Under this exchange programme state level winners of Dadra and Nagar Haveli will be provided training by the students of Govt. Model Senior Sec School -10A who were the winners of State level KALA Utsav -2016 in bhangra and the students of Dadra and Nagar Haveli will train the students of winning team of Chandigarh in the folk dance of their state at Govt. Model Senior Sec School -10A.

On the basis of the judgement Govt. High School -52 secured the 1st position, Govt. Senior Sec School –Manimajra Town secured the 2nd position, Govt. Model High School -RCII has secured the 3rd position, 4th position was secured by Govt. Model Senior Sec School -10A and 5th position by Govt. High School- Hallomajra.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
