National Press Day celebrations organized at Chandigarh Press Club

Chandigarh, 16th November, 2017: November 16 is commemorated in India as the National Press Day (NPD). This year being the valedictory of the Golden Jubilee Year of the Press Council of India, the National Press Day is being celebrated at the National Level by giving a platform for Indian participant delegates from World Association of Press Councils (WAPC), Media Councils and Similar Bodies and the Media across the world to discuss media ethics and pressures. The deliberations this year are centered on “Challenges before the Media”. Simultaneously the National Awards for Excellence in Journalism will also be conferred to those excelled in field of Journalism.

                             As a part of the celebrations, to commemorate the National Press Day at the State & Union Territory level jointly with press organizations/journalists institutions, the Department of Public Relations, Chandigarh Administration in association with the Chandigarh Press Club organized an Open Forum that centered on “Challenges before the Media”. Media Veterans were invited from print; electronic & digital mediums to share, discuss and ponder over the challenges faced by the journalists during the early years and in the present times. With the wealth of collective experience & knowledge, the veterans not only shared the challenges, but also guided the journalists on how they can overcome obstacles, maintain their credibility & achieve excellence in the field of journalism.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. 'X’ houses will be covered in the coming days too to track the unimmunized children and give them polio drops. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
