2017: The Department of Social Welfare Women & Child
Development, Chandigarh Administration is organizing 4 days Para Games for
Divyangjans of Tricity from 30th November 2017 to 03rd
December 2017 in collaboration with Rotary Club, Chandigarh. The said event was
inaugurated today by Sh. B.L. Sharma, IAS, Secretary Social Welfare, Chandigarh
Administration at the Sports Complex, Sector 46, Chandigarh. In all 210
Divyangjan from different categories like Hearing Impaired, Visually Impaired,
Orthopedically Handicapped, Intellectually Disabled participated in different
games like Race for 50 mtr, 100 mtr and 200 mtr; throws i.e. Javelin Throw,
Discuss Throw, Shotput and also in Long Jump. The Chief Guest congratulated and
appreciated the efforts being done by the Smt. Nishu Singal, HCS, Director
Social Welfare who worked so dedicatedly for the empowerment of Divyangjans. He
also congratulated all participants and asked them to give their best and send
to public a message through this endeavor that hope will always conquer fear.
The finals of these events shall be organized on the World Disability Day i.e.
3rd Dec. 2017 and the first 3 winners of each category shall be
awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals. Apart from this all the participants
shall be given the Participation Certificate.
Chandigarh 10 th August 2017: In compliance of the directions of the Government of India to take steps for improvement of ranking in “Ease of Doing Business’ index, the Chandigarh Administration has notified Chandigarh Building Rules (Urban) 2017. The existing building byelaws/orders/notifications issued from time to time have been reviewed bya committee. Since amendments to the building Rules were never compiled before, therefore, comparative analysis of existing building byelaws applicable in Chandigarh was done viz-a-viz Haryana Building Code 2016, TCPO Model Building Byelaws 2016 and NBC 2017. This exercise has simplified the building Rules as each and every rule has been tabulated and individual chapters including Commercial, Residential, Industrial, Institutional, IT Park, High Rise buildings etc. The report had been earlier approved by the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh after seeking views from general public.
