Dedicated Widows Cell Constituted


Chandigarh, 12th March 2018: The first meeting of Dedicated Widows Cell constituted as per the directions of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India was held in the office of Secretary, District legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh.  Being Chairperson of the Dedicated Widows Cell, Secretary, District legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh proposed to identify all important and relevant Welfare Schemes so that a compilation in that regard could be prepared along with collective data base of the widow's as well as the numbers and particulars of her children, if any. It was also resolved to constitute a team of 5 persons consisting of 4 Para Legal Volunteers and 1 Panel Lawyer. The Widows' Cell shall be collectively and individually  responsible for planning, allocation and execution of work related to registration of widows, Documentation, grievance redressal, response to Helpline and Help Desk, overseeing mechanisms for Shelter Homes, health Services, Legal Aid, Counselling, Linking with livelihood and housing schemes, ensuring protection of the person, children and property of widows in their jurisdiction and networking with all the other district Widows' Cell, State and National mechanisms established for the welfare of widows. 

Sh. Virat, Sub Divisional Magistrate, Centre, U.T., Chandigarh also proposed for associating willing  NGO's who are working towards the welfare of women and to also appraise the targeted group about Women Laws and laws relating inheritance. The meeting was also attended  by the Deputy Director, Social Welfare Department, Chandigarh Administration, and Company Secretary, Chandigarh Child & Women Development Corporation, Chandigarh alongwith other representative of various departments.  Also proposed to conduct surveys relating to this issue through Anganwadi Workers.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
