National Immunization Day – Polio Round


Chandigarh, March 11, 2018: 42,603 children were immunized on day one of Pulse Polio Campaign under National Immunization Day. 460 booths were setup by the Health Department in the whole city apart from deploying 13 teams at Transit points.

100 Sector Supervisors monitored the booth activity for which 920 teams of vaccinators were deployed from 9:00 am to 4 pm. The monitoring was done under the supervision of Director Health & Family Welfare Dr. G. Dewan and other officials.

 Special emphasis was laid in the Urban slums/colonies/villages for ensuring that no child is left unimmunized in order to achieve 100% immunization during the 3-day campaign. 

The door to door activity will be done on March 12 and March 13 to ensure that all children are covered for Polio drops that could not avail the same during the booth activity. All children irrespective of any state in Chandigarh will be given Polio drops. 

The innovative project “TAARE ZAMEEN PAR-A NIGHT VIGIL” has been initiated in last NID Pulse Polio Round of January by the Health Department to cover those children which are accompanied by the parents during the day and come to halt at the various odd points of the city. To carry out this activity, six teams will be deputed from 9pm to 11 pm w.e.f March 11th and will move around in different parts of the city where the rag pickers/ beggars etc tend to settle down with their children in night hours including the Rain Baseras. 

The Health Department appeals all residents of the city to associate in spreading the awareness amongst the public to get all children in the age group 0- 5 years immunized against Polio during this Campaign and to achieve 100% polio immunization with Polio Free Country.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote".
