Section 144 of Cr. P.C


Chandigarh, 1st March 2018: In pursuance of the order dated: 14.12.2016 issued by Hon’ble National Green Tribunal, Principal Bench, New Delhi, in the matter of Khalid Ashraf & Anr. Vs. U.O.I. & Ors. (O.A. No. 384 of 2016) AND P.E.T.A., India Vs. U.O.I. & Ors. (O.A. no. 442 of 2016), it has been made to appear to Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, District Magistrate, Chandigarh that a large number of people flying the kites, use synthetic/nylon-glass coated thread popularly known as Pakka thread/Dori and Chinese Maanjha/Dori. These Maanjhas/Doris, being made of synthetic material are non-biodegradable and thus cause serious injuries to human beings, birds and are equally disadvantageous & harmful to the wildlife/environment. In some cases, it had also caused death of humans and birds.

And therefore, Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, I.A.S., District Magistrate, Chandigarh, is of the opinion that use of above said synthetic/nylon-glass coated thread popularly known as Pakka thread/Dori and Chinese Maanjha/Dori needs to be regulated in the larger public interest and immediate necessary action is necessary to be taken to prevent serious injury or death to human beings & birds along with harm to wildlife & environment, due to above said Pakka thread/Dori and Chinese Maanjha/Dori.

Now therefore, Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, I.A.S., District Magistrate, Chandigarh, in exercise of the power vested with him u/s 144 of Cr. P.C., as a measure of emergency and to prevent serious injury or death to human beings & birds and to prevent harm to wildlife & environment, do hereby order that procuring, stocking, sale and use of synthetic/nylon-glass coated thread popularly known as Pakka thread/Dori and Chinese Maanjha/Dori along with other threads coated with glass and/or such other harmful substances for kite flying, within the jurisdiction of U.T. of Chandigarh, for a period of 60 days.

This order shall come into force from zero hours on 05.03.2018 and shall be effective for a period of sixty days up to and including 03.05.2018.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
