Anti Rabies Vaccination drive-cum-Humane Education Camps in the villages of U.T. Chandigarh


Chandigarh 30th May 2018: The Animal Husbandry Department UT Chandigarh has launched a two months mass vaccination-cum-awareness drive against rabies in all villages of U.T. Chandigarh from 30-05-2018 to 08-08-2018 in coordination with Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Sector-38 Chandigarh. The purpose of organizing camps is to curb the menace of dreadful disease of rabies in animals as well as in human beings.
          Capt Karnail Singh, PCS, Director, Department of Animal Husbandry stated, on the occasion of first camp at village Sarangpur, that in these camps Anti Rabies Vaccine shall be administered to every stray or pet dog, free of cost to combat the dreadful disease in rural areas of Union Territory Chandigarh. The camps shall be organized under the supervision of Veterinary Officer of the concerned area. The members of the concerned village Panchayats shall be involved in the drive to make it more successful.
          Dr. Kanwarjit Singh, Joint Director Animal Husbandry revealed that today 42 dogs were vaccinated against rabies in first camp of its kind in village Sarangpur. The pamphlets were distributed and short films were shown for the awareness of residents on how to prevent animals from rabies. Likewise the camps in all villages shall be organized as per following schedule:

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
