Applications for Vayoshrestha Samman


Chandigarh 29th May 2018: The Government of India, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, New Delhi has instituted Thirteen categories for awarding the Vayoshrestha Samman and the Government of India has invited two nominations (maximum) under each category. The Social Welfare Department, Chandigarh Administration invites applications from deserving individuals and institutions from amongst public for the Vayoshrestha Samman to be given on the occasion of International Day of the Elderly to be celebrated on October 1 for forwarding the same to the Government of India.

Different categories of  awards are - Best Institution for Research and dissemination of Knowledge in the field of Ageing; Best Institution for providing Services to Senior Citizens; Best District Panchayat, Best Urban Local Body; Best State in Implementing the Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007 and providing services and facilities to Senior Citizens; Best Private Sector Organization in promoting the well being and welfare of senior citizens; Best Public Sector Organization in promoting the well being and welfare of senior citizens; Centenarian Award; Iconic Mother Award, Lifetime Achievement Award; Award for Creative Art; Award for Sports and Adventure (Male and Female) and Courage and Bravery Award (Male and Female).  The awards consists citation, memento and cash award.  Application forms can be collected from the Director Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration, Town Hall Extension, Sector 17-C, Chandigarh, Tel 0172-2700062.

All the eligible individuals/ institutions are requested to send their applications under the aforesaid categories by 30.05.2018.
