20th Quinquennial Livestock Census to be carried from 20th August

Chandigarh, 7th August 2018: The 20th Quinquennial Livestock Census will be carried out in Union Territory Chandigarh from 20th August, 2018 to 19th November, 2018 as per directions of Govt. of India, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Department of Animal Husbandry Dairying and Fisheries, New Delhi.

Livestock rearing is one of the most important economic activities in the rural areas of the country contributing significantly to the national economy. This census will be conducted for breed-wise number of animals and poultry with their age and sex composition for various species across the country.

Capt. Karnail Singh, Director Animal Husbandry revealed that Mobile Application on data collection for 20th Livestock Census has been developed for field level by Govt. of India. The data is to be collected through tablets by Enumerators. He told that this census is of great importance to know the population of livestock/ Poultry in the region, to formulate and implement different beneficiary schemes for livestock farmers launched by Govt. of India from time to time.

Dr. Kanwarjit Singh Joint Director Animal Husbandry stated that the department has completed all the preparation for smooth conduct of Livestock Census in Chandigarh (UT). He appealed the public to extend their full co-operation and support in urban and rural areas for successful completion of this Census programme.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote".
