Celebration of 72nd Independence Day in Chandigarh


Chandigarh, 15 August, 2018:  The Chandigarh Administration today celebrated the 72nd Independence Day with thrill and glory at the Parade Ground, Sector 17, Chandigarh. The Governor of Punjab   and Administrator, UT, Chandigarh Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, was the chief guest of the occasion. The Administrator unfurled the National Flag and took salute from the various contingents of Police and NCC Cadets participating in the Independence Day Parade.

Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore gave the commendation certificates to 24 employees of the Chandigarh Administration and general public for rendering outstanding services in the field of Public services, Art and Culture, Social Services and Sports. 17 Police personnel were also conferred Administrator's Police Medal for their distinguished and meritorious services.  

The Chandigarh Police received the overall best  award in the parade. In Military forces and Police category, the first prize was bagged by CRPF  whereas the, Chandigarh IRB Lady Police got second position and Chandigarh Lady Police(General duty) came third.

In NCC contingents, in the category of Civil Defence, Chandigarh Civil Defence received the first prize, Chandigarh Home Guards came second and Chandigarh Fire Services got the third position.

In NCC contingents, Naval wing bagged the first position, Air wing came second and Boys Army wing came third. In another category of Ambulance Brigade, Guide and Scouts, and Road Safety, Government Model Senior Secondary School sector 47 got first position, Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School sector 21 got second position and Govt.Girls Model Senior Secondary School, sector 18 got third position for scouts and guides.

 In School student’s category,  Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School, sector-21 came first whereas Punjab University Platoon got second position and Shivalik Public School sector 41 got third position. Under the School  Band category, Institute for Blind, sector-26 came first, Govt Model Senior Secondary School,sector-10 scored second place &  Govt Model Senior Secondary School,sector-28 came third.

Among others present during the function were Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta , IAS, Home Secretary, Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha , IAS, Finance Secretary, Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, other senior officials of UT Administration and Police along with the residents of the city beautiful.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. 'X’ houses will be covered in the coming days too to track the unimmunized children and give them polio drops. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
