Chandigarh Administration condoles the passing away of Sh. Balram Ji Das Tandon


Chandigarh, 14th August 2018: Chandigarh Administration is deeply saddened on the sudden demise of Sh. Balramji Das Tandon, Hon’ble Governor of Chhattisgarh.

The legendary leader is well known for his selfless service for the poor and needy people. His long political career was devoted for the people of India. The stalwart of Indian politics will always be remembered for his contribution to the Social and Political fields.

The mortal remains of the leader will be brought to Ambala via a special aircraft and then by road to Chandigarh, his hometown (House No: 1636, Sector-18 D) on 14th August 2018. The Governor of Punjab and Haryana will receive the mortal remains of the Governor of Chhattisgarh at his residence.  The Ministers of Haryana, Sh. Rao Narbir and Sh. Manish Grover will receive the mortal remains at the Ambala Airport on behalf of Govt of Haryana. 

The final rites will be performed with full state honor on 16th August at 1:30 PM at Cremation Ground, Sector 25, Chandigarh. In view of the sad demise of Sh. Balramji Das Tandon, Hon’ble Governor of Chhattisgarh, 16th August will be observed as a mourning day by the Chandigarh Administration.

There will be traditional observance of the country’s 72nd Independence Day and no cultural ceremonies will take place. The At Home function, at both Punjab Raj Bhawan and Haryana Raj Bhawan, also stands cancelled.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
