HIV/AIDS Awareness to Mark International Youth Day

Chandigarh, 14th August 2018: The International Youth Day is observed annually in the month of August throughout the world. This day is an opportunity when youth can be sensitized on various important issues like HIV/AIDS.

To address the issue of HIV/AIDS Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society had organized an HIV/AIDS awareness event to mark “International Youth Day in the premises of Post Graduate Government College for Girls, Sector 11, Chandigarh.
Smt. Anita Kaushal, Principal, PGGCG, Sector-11, Chandigarh along with Dr Vanita GuptaProject Director inaugurated the programme.
Project Director, Dr Vanita Gupta informed that young people are often the World’s strongest advocates. Researchers have shown that young people are more vulnerable to HIV/AIDS. Young People between the ages of 15-24 are the group most affected by HIV/AIDS and account for 40% of all Adult HIV infections.
An awareness event was organized where students from different colleges of Chandigarh participated in various competitions like Rangoli making, poster making, Collage Competition, Essay writing and slogan writing competitions on the theme of HIV/AIDS and Voluntary Blood donation. The objective of the event was to sensitized the youth on HIV/AIDS and to motivate them to come forward and take the correct information on HIV modes of transmission and prevention.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
