Celebration of POSHAN MAAH by Chandigarh Administration


Chandigarh, 17th September 2018: The POSHAN Maah as started by the honorable Prime Minister is being celebrated throughout the country from 1st to 30th September, 2018. 

The theme of the POSHAN Maah for September 2018 is "Har Ghar POSHAN Tyohaar”. The basic objective of this POSHAN Maah event is to reduce stunting, under-nutrition, anemia (among young children, women and adolescent girls) to reduce low birth weight by 2%, to 3% per annum respectively and to intensify awareness generation on the importance of nutrition for health.

POSHAN Abhiyaan is not a programme but a Jan Andolan, and Bhagidaari. Under this Jan Andolan drive, the Department of Social welfare Chandigarh Administration has organized many activities/awareness programmes at grassroots level on POSHAN message i.e Drawing Competition, local leader meetings, Hand Wash, hygiene, complimentary feeding and water sanitation etc at Dhanass , Sector 41, Badheri, Burail, Raipur Khurad, Raipur Kalan, , Kishangarh, Daria, Vikasnagar, Palsora, etc. 

The Department has also organized a cycle rally in the Ram Darbar area to convey the message of the importance of right nutrition, right food, clean water and healthy practices to each and every household.

The work is been done with great enthusiasm and the administration is sure that the people will tend to bring a change in their lifestyles.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. 'X’ houses will be covered in the coming days too to track the unimmunized children and give them polio drops. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
