17th September 2018: Green Skill Development Programme on “Sustain and Enhance
Technical Knowledge in Solar Energy Systems” sponsored by Ministry of
Environment Forest & Climate Change, Govt. of India, is being organized
from 17th September, 2018 to 22nd Nov, 2018 (45 days) by ENVIS HUB, Department
of Environment, Chandigarh Administration in collaboration with National
Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh.
During this program, twenty two participants from
different states across the country will be imparted skill development training
on different technologies used for harnessing the solar energy as well as
installation, operation and maintenance works involved in the various solar
energy systems.
The 45 days skill development training programme has been
inaugurated by Sh. Debendra Dalai, IFS, Director Environment, S & T and RE
and CEO CREST, Chandigarh U.T. on 17th Sept, 2018 at 11:00 am at NITTR,
Chandigarh. In his address, Sh. Debendra Dalai, Chief Guest of the function
highlighted the importance of skill development of youths. He further
elaborated on the importance of Green Skill Development with special emphasis
on harnessing solar energy for posterity. The steps taken by Chandigarh
administration for popularising the renewable energy were also highlighted by
him.
The Guest of Honour Dr. Abdul Qayum, IFS, Deputy Conservator of
Forest and Additional Director S & T and RE, stressed upon the need to
reduce green house gas emissions through utilisation of solar energy
technologies.
Dr SS Pattnaik , Director, NITTTR, Chandigarh enlightened about
the key initiatives and innovative activities of the institute and also about
the significance of practical skills for enhancing employment in solar
energy sector.
Sh. Vivek Pandey, Scientist “SD” cum ENVIS Coordinator,
Chandigarh Administration addressed regarding the role of solar energy systems
for reducing carbon footprint and green energy interventions based potential
employment areas. In his remarks, he highlighted major initiatives taken up by
ENVIS Hub, Chandigarh and its contribution in national environmental protection
and awareness.
