Ram Darbar witnesses Celebrations of Poshan Mela


Chandigarh, 15th September 2018: The Department of Social Welfare Chandigarh Administration has organized ‘POSHAN Mela’ at Composite Anganwadi building of Ram Darbar in order to bring awareness among people regarding proper intake of nutrition.

Poshan Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission) is India’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women and lactating mothers and intends to convert Nutrition Awareness into a Jan Andolan and a “Janbhagidaari  (People’s Movement)”.

The Department of Health, Song and Drama Division, Government Home Science College and Food and Nutrition board U.T. Chandigarh also made great efforts in making the event successful.

Also, On the occasion of the POSHAN Mela, Home Science College along with Song and Drama Division organized Nutrition Exhibition and played a Natak on POSHAN. 

Dr. Sonia from Health department conducted a poster making competition of adolescent girls on cleanliness and Nutritional diet. The local areas adolescent girls and ladies also participated in the Mela and created awareness in the people through Songs and other activities on Nutrition. The department also awarded the participants of first three positions.

The POSHAN Maah is being celebrated in different areas of Chandigarh and is being organized at Grassroots Level Programmes i.e., Awareness Generation Programmes on Anemia, Diarrhoea, Adolescent issues, Safe Drinking Water, health hygiene, breast feeding, healthy diet, Complementary food, Hand Wash, Community meetings, door to door visits etc during the POSHAN Maah on the specified theme at villages/Colonies adjoining it, Mani Majra, Indira Colony, Dhanas, Maloya, Kaimbwala, Khejeri, Adarsh Colony,  etc.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
