Chandigarh, 15th September 2018: The Department of Social Welfare Chandigarh
Administration has organized ‘POSHAN Mela’ at Composite Anganwadi building of
Ram Darbar in order to bring awareness among people regarding proper intake of
nutrition.
Poshan Abhiyaan (National Nutrition Mission) is India’s flagship
programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, pregnant women and
lactating mothers and intends to convert Nutrition Awareness into a Jan Andolan
and a “Janbhagidaari (People’s Movement)”.
The Department of Health, Song and Drama Division, Government
Home Science College and Food and Nutrition board U.T. Chandigarh also made
great efforts in making the event successful.
Also, On the occasion of the POSHAN Mela, Home Science College
along with Song and Drama Division organized Nutrition Exhibition and played a
Natak on POSHAN.
Dr. Sonia from Health department conducted a poster making
competition of adolescent girls on cleanliness and Nutritional diet. The local
areas adolescent girls and ladies also participated in the Mela and created
awareness in the people through Songs and other activities on Nutrition. The
department also awarded the participants of first three positions.
The POSHAN Maah is being celebrated in different areas of
Chandigarh and is being organized at Grassroots Level Programmes i.e.,
Awareness Generation Programmes on Anemia, Diarrhoea, Adolescent issues, Safe
Drinking Water, health hygiene, breast feeding, healthy diet, Complementary
food, Hand Wash, Community meetings, door to door visits etc during the POSHAN
Maah on the specified theme at villages/Colonies adjoining it, Mani Majra,
Indira Colony, Dhanas, Maloya, Kaimbwala, Khejeri, Adarsh Colony, etc.
