State Level Launching of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana on 23rd September

Chandigarh, 20th September, 2018: State Level launching of Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana under Ayushman Bharat, National Health Protection Mission is being held at Tagore Theatre on  23rd September, 2018 (Sunday) at 1:30 pm by His Excellency Shri. VP Singh Badnore, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of U.T. Chandigarh.

Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) will provide health protection cover to poor and vulnerable families. It will ensure access to healthcare to more than 10 crore poor and vulnerable families in India who have hitherto been left out of the healthcare system and the development story of the country. As the largest targeted health assurance scheme in the world it presents the opportunity, together with it the challenge of providing secondary and tertiary medical care to over 50 crore poor and deprived Indians – a population almost equal to that of Europe or the combined population of US, Canada and Mexico. Beneficiaries under PMJAY will be entitled to a medical cover of up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year.
The scheme will provide the health insurance policy to poor families and the beneficiaries will get ‘cashless and paperless’ access to health services in all empanelled hospitals across India.
In Chandigarh, 23,687 households have been determined by the Socio-Economic Caste Census of 2011. Of these, 392 are the rural households, while 23,295 are urban households which shall be covering 1,18,435 number of beneficiaries of the city. They will be entitled to avail cashless services at the empanelled Govt. & Private Hospitals in the city for Primary, Secondary & Tertiary health care services.
Ten Health & Wellness Centers will be operationalized from the same day in U.T. Chandigarh.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
