State level workshop on Poshan Abhiyan, organised by Chandigarh Administration


Chandigarh, September 28, 2018: A State Level Workshop on POSHAN Abhiyaan was organised today by the Department of Social Welfare in convergence with the Line Departments as part of the Rashtriya  POSHAN Maah Celebration at Bhargava Auditorium, PGI, U.T. Chandigarh. 
An event is deemed successful, if the motive of the event is being  acknowledged and appreciated. Hon'ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator U.T. Chandigarh,  Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, graced the event as “Chief Guest” and Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT Chandigarh was the “Guest of Honour” of the event. The event began by Specially Abled Children of Aasha Kiran singing National Anthem in sign language, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The Welcome Speech was given by Sh. B.L. Sharma, IAS, Secretary, Social Welfare  Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration.
Thereafter, Smt. Navjot Kaur PCS, Director, Department of Social Welfare Women & Child Development, Chandigarh Administration presented a video themed on 'the Glimpse of POSHAN Journey', followed by Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Hon'ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator U.T. Chandigarh   administering the Poshan Pledge to the gathering. 
After the pledge, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore shared his wisdom with the delegates and unveiled the book "Suposhan" - a handbook on Nutrition and Low Cost Healthy Food Recipes, compiled by Director Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration and Home Science College, Chandigarh.
An overview of the POSHAN Abhiyaan in Chandigarh was given by Dr. Bhavneet Bharti, Professor, Deptt of Pediatrician, PGIMER, Chandigarh, after which Dr. Paramjyoti and Dr. Manisha from Government Multi Speciality Hospital, Sector-16 delivered an elaborate and in depth session and  talked about 'The Journey of the First 1000 Days of a Child' and the 'Way Towards Good Health' respectively.
Through an engaging presentation Dr. Manisha and Dr. Namrata Sethi (from Home Science College) were successful in explaining 'The Nutrition for Growing Children'. 
 The event reached conclusion with a riveting play on Nutrition and Health, performed by students of the Government Home Science College, Sector -10, Chandigarh and was concluded with the address of Smt. Navjot Kaur, PCS, Director Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration where she expressed her gratitude towards everyone who contributed to the success of the Rashtriya POSHAN Maah. Improving the nutritional status of the population is imperative for National Development and with growing knowledge, people are becoming increasingly open to change their lifestyles in order to have a healthy life.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. 'X’ houses will be covered in the coming days too to track the unimmunized children and give them polio drops. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
