Chandigarh, September 27, 2018: Dr. Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Catering and Technology, Sector-42D, a premier institute providing hospitality education, an autonomous body under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, today celebrated “WORLD TOURISM DAY” with enthusiasm and ebullience.
Keeping the essence of “Athithi Devo Bhavah ”, which literally means “Guest is God”, the students of the institute visited various places like ISBT SECTOR 43, CHANDIGARH RAILWAY STATION, ROCK GARDEN, CAPITOL COMPLEX and greeted the tourists with a rose bud and wished them “Happy Tourism Day”. Our budding hotel professionals also displayed their physical aptness by participating in the “Run for Tourism” at Sukhna lake with a cause to spread message for uplifting tourism, which was organised by Chandigarh Administration. To enhance the competitive spirit amongst the students, the Institute organised various competitions which were held on an inter college level. Many students from different colleges in and around the city such as Home Science College, Govt. College for girls, Govt. College of arts and MCM DAV participated in large numbers and made this event a Big Success. The competitions held to celebrate this occasion were:

The participating students were judged on the criteria of relevance with the theme, colour schemes, neatness in work and creativity. The winners of the events were:

This was followed by a cake demonstration by our faculty member, Chef Bhanu Sharma. The Principal, Mr Arvind Varma, appreciated and motivated the students for their creativity and efforts. He furtehr added, “Such events create competitive spirit among students and enhance their overall personality. I appreciate the efforts of other colleges. Tourism offers a wonderful connecting thread between visitor and host community. In the world struggling for peaceful coexistence, tourism builds bridges and contributes to peace”. The day culminated with the award ceremony for acknowledging the efforts of all the participants.
