Chandigarh Carnival 2018


Chandigarh, 8th October, 2018: A meeting was held today at U.T Secretariat under the chairmanship of Sh. Jitender Yadav, IAS, Director, Tourism, Chandigarh Administration to discuss the preparations for the celebration of year Chandigarh Carnival 2018.

The Chandigarh Carnival is the most awaited event of the year, which will be organised from 23rd to 25th November this year at the Open Ground opposite to the Museum & Art Gallery, sector-10, Chandigarh. The theme of this year’s carnival will be “GANDHI GRAM” in commemoration to the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

All the three days of the Chandigarh Carnival will be well planned and packed with numerous activities centered on the theme of “GANDHI GRAM”. The Carnival will showcase Carnival Parade consisting of various Floats & Tableaux, various cultural & fun activities, exhibition of vintage cars, joy rides for the kids, various Runs & Walkathons, display of art & food delicacies and performances by famous Bollywood and Punjabi singers.

An annual event organized by the Chandigarh Administration, the Grand Carnival aims at promoting the talent of the city and providing them a valid platform for the same. The main attraction of the Carnival includes a fantastic parade where one gets to see floats prepared by the students of Arts College. These floats based on varied themes are decorated with colourful papers in the shape of cartoon characters.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
