Chandigarh, 15th November 2018: Chandigarh celebrated the first event of the State Level Kala Utsav-2018, Solo Dance Competition today at Bhawan Vidyalaya, Sector-27, Chandigarh. The Chief Guest of the event was Smt. Bhawana Garg, I.A.S, Deputy Director General U.I.D.A.I. (Unique Identification Authority of India).
14 Govt. /Govt. Aided /Private Schools participated with full enthusiasm and vigour. The Judges for the event were Guru Yogesh Sharma, Kathak Artist, Jaipur Gharana, Smt. Rachna, Kathak Artist and Preetpal Singh Sodhi, Professional Folk Artist. The Judges critically evaluated each and every performance as per the guidelines specified by MHRD/NCERT and gave their decision.
The aim of the event was to help the students to explore, understand and display their artistic talents which further gives them an opportunity to understand and celebrate cultural diversity at school, district, state and national level.
On the basis of the judgment, Vimal of Govt. Model High School, Maloya, Chandigarh secured the 1st Position; Vinod of Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School-Mauli Jagran secured the 2nd Position; Karampreet Singh of Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School Sector-35 D, Chandigarh secured the 3rd Position in Male Category.
In Female Category Shubhra Koser of Delhi Public School, Sector-40, Chandigarh secured the 1st Position; Arshita Kalia of Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Sector-16, Chandigarh secured the 2nd Position; Bibhasha Banerjee of Banyan Tree secured the 3rd Position under Solo Dance Performance.
Shri Rubinderjit Singh Brar, Director School Education, Smt. Saroj Mittal, D.D.S.E. and other officials of Education Department were present during the function.
