Chandigarh Administration signs MoU with Rotary Club Chandigarh to set up Health Education Centre

Chandigarh, 5th December, 2018: Chandigarh Administration and Rotary Club of Chandigarh today signed a Memorandum of Understanding for setting up a Health Education Centre in the City. The MoU was signed by Education Secretary Sh. B.L. Sharma representing Chandigarh Administration and President of Rotary Club, Sh. A.P Singh Dhiman in the presence of Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, U.T Chandigarh, Sh. Parimal Rai, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T Chandigarh, Sh. Sanjay Beniwal, IPS, DGP, Chandigarh Police, Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, IAS, Finance Secretary, Sh. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, PCS, Director School Education, Sh. Rajendra K. Saboo former president of Rotary International and members of Chandigarh Rotary Club.
The Rotary Club in association with another world-renowned US-based, McMillen Health Centre, an independent NGO located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, shall equip it with hi-tech gadgets, mannequins, models, teaching aides and expertise.
The President of Rotary International Rajendra K. Saboo, who had conceived the project, informed that this state-of-the-art Health Education Centre is meant to educate school students about fundamentals of Medical Science, Human Physiology, and would also serve as Training Centre to impart training to master trainers as well as teachers.
Chandigarh Administration has decided to set up the Centre in Government Model High School, Sector-22C, in the first phase and later a site would be identified by a committee comprising representatives of the Engineering, Architecture & Education  department.
It would also work as centre of excellence in providing basic Medical Education, Health Check-up and Training, and would be managed by a team of Administrative staff, team of doctors and experts under a society which shall have Adviser to the Administrator as Chairman having Secretaries of Health, Finance and Education department of the Chandigarh Administration as members along with various other members from various departments and two members of the Rotary Club.
Commenting during the occasion, Sh. Badnore lauded Rotary’s endeavours for this unique and first project in the country to be setup in the city, and said that this is a new beginning and Administration would like to partner with Rotary Club Chandigarh for its various other initiatives as well.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
