Celebration of Girl Child Week under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme

Chandigarh, 22nd January, 2019: The National Girl Child Week is being celebrated throughout the country from 21st-26th January, 2019 under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Scheme. The theme of the week for January 2019 is "Empowering Girl for a better tomorrow”.  Under this celebration, the Department of Social Welfare Chandigarh Administration has organised awareness programmes to create awareness on Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005; Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013; and role of SAKHI- ONE STOP CENTRE for the Anganwadi Workers at Bapudham, Khejeri and Maloya.
The Department of Education has made great efforts in making the event successful as various activities like oath taking, rally,  talk shows on topics like health & hygiene, menstrual hygiene, good touch bad touch, health & nutrition, safety of girls, rights of children, importance of BBBP etc. were organised at school level by GMHS 28C, GMSSS 35D, GMSSS 16, GMSSS 27C, GHS 53, GSSS Khuda Lahora,  GMHS 36, GMHS 38 West, GGSSS20B, GMHS 39, GMHS 40 A, GSSS38 West, GMS 46, GMSSS 26TM, GMS Kishan Garh, GMSSS 56, GMSSS Dhanas, GMHS 20, GMSSS 15C, GHS Hallomjara and GHS Sarangpur. In some schools, activities like Signature Campaign, poem recitation & speech competitions were also held. A video on Good Touch Bad Touch was also been shown in some schools. Self defense training was also imparted to girls.

Public Camp Chandigarh, 28 January, 2016 :-  It is for the information of the general public that the public camp for 29/01/2016 is to be held at community centre of Sector 45. The sectors covered in the camp would be Sector 44, 45 including burial Village, 46 and 33 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 AM.
