National Girl Child Week

Chandigarh, 21st January, 2019:  The National Girl Child Week is being  Celebrated  throughout the country from 21-26th January, 2019 under Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Scheme. The theme of the week for January 2019 is "Empowering Girl for a better Tomorrow”. This event also marks the 4th Anniversary of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme. The basic objective of this event is to create enabling environment and reinforce gender equality.
          Under this Celebration, the Department of Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration has organised many activities/awareness programmes at grassroots level/School Level in convergence with the Department of Education i.e. talk shows on "Health & Hygiene Management" have been organised in GSSS 45, GMSSS Behlana, GMSSS 35D, GHS Hallomajra , GMSSS Sarangpur, GHS (SMART SCHOOL) 50-B, GMSSS 8B , GMSSS 33D, GMSSS 23A, GSSS 38 West, GMHS 41D (Badheri), GMSSS 44, GHS 47 as well as in GHS 19  and discussed about various issues related to Health and Hygiene In GMSSS 56, a lecture was held by Mahila Shakti Kendra in convergence with One Stop Centre and Women & Child Helpline on protection of children and safety of girls and women. An Oath has been taken on "BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO" theme by the students of the GHS, Dadu Majra Chandigarh. 
A Workshop on Menstruation was held at GSSS, Mauli Jagran(V). A painting competition was also organised on "BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO" theme in GMS Kishangarh. A poem recitation competition was held in GMSSS Sarangpur and GMSSS 15 CSlogan writing competition was held in GMHS Khuda Jassu. In GMMS Pocket10 Manimajra, Poster Making Activity on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was organized.  Students of GMHS 41D (Badheri) distributed BBBP stickers to general public of surrounding residential area of school.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. The campaign was held for three days in which Day 1 was dedicated for Booth Round and Day 2 & 3 were planned for door to door visit to immunize all children of Chandigarh in this age group with Oral Polio drops. A total of 1, 00, 236 children were immunized with oral polio drops during pulse polio activity and 929 teams visited 2, 65, 042 Houses and immunized Children with oral polio drops on day 2 and 3. 'X’ houses will be covered in the coming days too to track the unimmunized children and give them polio drops. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
