Additional Chief Electoral Officer Reviews Election Preparations in Meeting with Nodal Officers

Chandigarh, 25th February 2019: A meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner cum Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar with the Nodal Officers to review the election preparedness in the constituency of Chandigarh.

The Head of the Departments were directed to undertake the manpower review by getting the manpower data filled in the software platform by tomorrow. Those departments who will not be able to fill the data on time, will be issued show cause notices under Representation of People Act.

The Additional Chief Electoral Officer was also apprised that the Flying Squad, Video Viewing Teams, Sector Officers, Micro Observers, Static Surveillance Team, Call centre, Permission cell for rallies etc have been created/appointed.

It was also stated that proper training shall be provided for the smooth electoral process, and it would be mandatory for all to attend all the training sessions. Proceedings shall be initiated under Representation of People Act against those who will not be attending the training.

SVEEP activities (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) have already been initiated and will be increased to create more awareness and motivate the unregistered voters, especially youth to enroll for the upcoming elections and increase voter turnout during the General Elections to Lok Sabha-2019.

To assist the voters, a helpline number 1950 is also functional. With this toll free number, voters can now get an easy solution to their election related queries.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
