French delegation meets Adviser; appreciates Smart City projects in City


Chandigarh, 31st January 2019: A Joint Working Group (JWG) of Sustainable Urban Development, 2019(delegation) from France led by Mr. Olivier Robinet, Deputy Director of the International Division at MEST-MTCRLA met  Sh. Manoj Kumar Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh and the team of officers of Chandigarh Smart City Ltd at UT Secretariat today.

The Adviser welcomed the delegation at the Smart City Chandigarh. The discussion took place about the conservation of heritage projects being undertaken in the city and how the city is taking leaps towards use of renewable energy. He further told the delegation to work on projects like use of electrical fleet of buses for mass transportation in the city.

The meeting of the delegation with the Adviser paved the way forward for funding of 24x7 water supply project for the city by the French agency AFD.

Earlier a detailed presentation over the Smart City projects was made by CEO, CSCL, Sh. K.K. Yadav, IAS to the delegation at Smart City office. The presentation highlighted the need for 24x7 water supply distribution in the city, which will not only discourage storage of water but the problem of low water pressure and contamination will also be eliminated. The delegation offered the officers of Smart City to visit France for training and capacity building in the field of water supply, sanitation and transportation.

The delegation went around the city including Capitol Complex, Le Corbusier’s Centre, Pierre Jenneret House, Sukhna Lake and other prominent places of city.

Present among the delegation were amongst Ms. Zenaide Hubert, Project officer incharge of Indian subcontinent, Ms. Dominique Campana, Director of International Affairs art ADEME (French Environment & Energy management agency), Ms. Aurelie Bernard, Project Manager, ADEME, Mr. Brahmanand Mohanty, Project Manager, ADEME, Ms. Clemence Vidal de La Blache, Deputy Regional Director for India & Bangladesh, AFD, Mr. Jean-Marc Fenet, Minister counsellor, Mr. Maxime du Bois, Counsellor sustainable development, Ms. Louise Rousseau, project officer, Smart Cities & energy, Ms. Aakriti Arora, Deputy head for sustainable development and transport from Regional Economic Department, Embassy of France and Mr. Aurelien Sostaponti, head of industries and cleantech at business France India.

Pulse Polio Campaign

Chandigarh, 4 th   April, 2017:   Activities conducted for three days i.e. from 2nd – 4th April, 2017 during Pulse Polio Campaign ‘Do Boond Zindgi Ki’ to win the war of eradicating Polio from the society and to immunize the children in the age group of 0-5 Years with Oral Polio Drops were successfully completed today. E auction of various commercial, residential and industrial sites to begin in Chandigarh

7th January 2019: Chandigarh Administration is about to begin the e auction process of various commercial, residential and industrial sites in Chandigarh. 10 residential sites on freehold basis,13 commercial sites on leasehold basis and 1 industrial site on leasehold basis are proposed to be e auctioned. The auction will be made public on 9th January 2019 at 9:00 AM and the documents can be submitted/EMD can be paid from 9th january till 23rd January 2019. Document/EMD approvals will be given from 24th January till 30th January. In addition to this the Estate Department will create a help desk at Estate Office Chandigarh on the above dates to create digital signatures of the applicants. Bidding will begin from 31st January (9:00 AM) till 4th February 2019 (till 4 PM)
