National Conference with the goal of “AIDS Free World” was launched today at Chandigarh


Chandigarh, 15th February, 2019: The National Conference with the goal of “AIDS Free World” was launched today by the Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator in the presence of Principal Secretary Health, Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, IAS and Joint Secretary Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Govt. of India New Delhi. The Conference AIDSCON-8 is being organized by Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society in the IMA Complex Sector 35, Chandigarh for two days, 15th & 16th February 2019.
The Conference was attended by a huge gathering of more than 400 participants. Representatives from Global Partners, WHO, UNAIDS, FHI 360, PHFI, HIV/AIDS Alliance and Senior Officers from NACO were also present. Medical Fraternity from PGIMER, GMCH-32 and Health & Family Welfare Department along with the Community of People living with HIV/AIDS were also present.
In his address, the Chief Guest, Sh. Parida complimented Chandigarh SACS on regularly organizing this meaningful event. He further added that it not only serves to educate the participants but also encourages exchange of ideas and networking. Sh. Parida advised that strict confidentiality should be ensured when dealing with HIV positive people.
Joint Secretary Health, GOI also complimented the innovations and work of Chandigarh SACS and announced that it was “A Jewel in the Crown” of NACO. Sessions on Blood Safety, an important clinical CME and discussions on effective modes of creating awareness amongst the public not only about prevention but also about regular treatment were deliberated upon. The deliberations being held during the Conference will go a long way in ending HIV/AIDS epidemic by 2030.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
