Review meeting held for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in U.T Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 26th February, 2019: Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, the Chief Electoral Officer, U.T Chandigarh, Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, IAS undertook a review meeting today at U.T Secretariat with the nodal officers for various activities to assess the preparedness in the constituency of Chandigarh.

During the meeting, officials discussed key issues pertaining to preparedness for the Lok Sabha elections namely continuous and correct updation of electoral rolls, timely distribution of voter ID cards, polling station arrangements, strengthening of manpower, expenditure monitoring, swift flow of communication and requirements of each officer related to the activities assigned to them for participative and fair conduct of elections.  

The Chief Electoral Officer directed all the nodal officers to ensure that smooth coordination is maintained among each election related official and training is provided to them where required for seamless conduct of election related matters. Sh. Sinha further emphasized on maximizing SVEEP activities in rural areas, government offices, colleges, schools and prominent locations for increasing awareness and participation in the electoral process.   

The meeting was attended by Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner cum Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Ms. Nazuk Kumar, IAS, SDM (Central), Sh. Rakesh Kumar Popli, PCS, Director Hospitality (Nodal Officer for Observers), Sh. Anil Kumar Garg, PCS, Additional Commissioner, MC (District Nodal Officer for implementing MCC), Sh. Jagjit Singh, PCS, Deputy CEO, Ms. Navjot Kaur, PCS, Director Social Welfare (Nodal Officer for SVEEP), Sh. Virat, HCS, Registering & Licensing Authority (Nodal officer for Help-line and complaints redressal), Ms. Radhika Singh, HCS, Director, Chandigarh Museum & Art Gallery (Nodal Officer for SVEEP), officers from NIC, elections department and Finance & Planning.

To assist the voters, a helpline number 1950 is also functional. With this toll free number, voters can now get an easy solution to their election related queries.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
