Samagra Shiksha & CII organized Job Fair at GMSSS 10


Chandigarh, 31st January, 2019: Samagra Shiksha, Chandigarh as a maiden attempt organized a job fair in UT, Chandigarh at Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, sector 10, in collaboration with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Chandigarh. The fair envisioned by the Education Secretary, Mr. B. L. Sharma, IAS, aimed to generate awareness among the students pursuing Skill courses of various government schools of the city.

The Job fair commenced with the inauguration function where Hon’ Education Secretary Mr. Bansi Lal Sharma was the Chief Guest who was accompanied by the Guest of honor Mr. Sofi Zahoor, Chairman, CII, Chandigarh. The guests were warmly welcomed by the SPD-cum-Director Schools Education Mr. Rubinderjit Singh Brar, PCS. The job fair witnessed the presence of dignitaries from Education Department and CII, a non-government, non-profit, industry- managed organization that is working closely with the Chandigarh Administration on skill development, and enhancing efficiency, competitiveness and business opportunities for industry.

Speaking on the occasion, the Education Secretary Mr. Bansi Lal Sharma appreciated the efforts of Samagra Shiksha for organizing the Job Fair for the first time and for providing a platform to the students, thereby encouraging skill courses education as a step towards realizing the vision of MHRD.

Mr. Sofi Zahoor, Chairman, CII , while addressing emphasized on the importance of education in an individuals' life. He said skill courses are a great step towards meeting the demands of the industry that is totally related to a specific trade, occupation or vocation. The inaugural function concluded with the vote of thanks by DDSE Mrs. Saroj Mittal.

Followed by the inaugural function, the job fair witnessed around 250 students of class XII Skill courses, from government schools of the city that came at the Job Fair to seek job placement opportunities/apprenticeship. CII brought various companies like - AFV Hospitality Pvt Ltd, Park Plaza, Falcon Garden Tools Pvt Ltd, Competent Synergies Pvt. Ltd., Xeam Ventures Pvt. Ltd, Exim Enterprises, Hatil by Kratos, JIYES Learning Institute etc. in the relevant trades like the retail management, beauty and wellness, information technology, automobile technology, on board for the drive, to map the qualification and skill of the students for the placements. Over 150 students of different streams have been shortlisted.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
