The “ KUMBH” on HIV/AIDS Concludes


Chandigarh, 16th February, 2019: The two day National Conference AIDSCON-8 towards AIDS Free World concluded successfully today. The Conference was organized by Chandigarh State AIDS Control Society.
Mrs. Lippi Parida, wife of Adviser to Administrator, U.T. Chandigarh and Dr. G. Dewan, DHS, Chandigarh Administration gave away awards to the best performing workers implementing the National AIDS Control Programme in Chandigarh.
During this Conference a total of 10 technical sessions were conducted which included
IEC & mainstreaming, blood safety, clinical CME, Newer Strategies, Revamping and Re-Strategizing Targeted Intervention Programme, Psychosocial Issues Syndemics, Reaching the 3rd 90 of 90-90-90, and Second Generation Prevention and Care.
More than 70 experts made their presentations and participated in panel discussions. Representatives from Global Partners like UNAIDS, WHO, India HIV/AIDS Alliance,
AIDS Society of India, FHI360, Hamsafar Trust, CHAI, SAATHII etc. also shared their experiences. The Representatives of the High Risk Groups of TG, Sex Workers, Drug Users and MSM opened their hearts and urged that Mental Health Care be introduced in the program as all were still grappling with some, though minor Stigma.
More than 500 people participated in this Two Days Conference including Doctors, Researchers, Students, Interns and also people from various State AIDS Control Societies and Technical Support Units.
The National Conference with the goal “AIDS Free World” was launched yesterday by the Adviser to the Administrator Sh. Manoj Kumar Parida, IAS, Principal Secretary Health Sh. Arun Kumar Gupta, IAS and Joint Secretary Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Govt. of India New Delhi. The deliberations being held during the Conference will go a long way in ending HIV/AIDS epidemic by 2030.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
