Administrator Inaugurates Major Health & Sports Projects in the City

Chandigarh, 4th March 2019: The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh today inaugurated major health and sports projects in the City. Among the projects were  Sports complexes, Sector 38 (W), 50 & 56, Chandigarh,100 Bedded Hospital, Sector 48, Chandigarh, Mental Health Institute, Sector 32 and Block A in Govt. Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities, sector-31, Chandigarh.
In order to provide better sports infrastructure facilitie in the southern part of the city, 3 sports complexes in Sector 38 (W), 50 & 56 have been inaugurated. Each sports complex has been built on more than 2.86 acre plot area at an estimated cost of Rs.8 Crore. Each sports conplex has facilities of swimming pool, table tennis hall,  badminton courts, squash courts, gymnasium hall, circulation area and entrance hall.
A 100 Bedded Hospital in Sector 48, Chandigarh has been built on an  estimated cost of Rs 28 Crore. Built on a 1.73 acre plot area, the hospital will cater to the medical needs of southern part of the city.  The 4 storey building has total covered area of 1,20,000 sq.ft.  The building also has provision for car parking in basement , OPD, labs, Doctor’s room, chemist shop, Paramedical facilities etc.
A new Mental Health Institute in Sector 32, Chandigarh is a project built with an estimated cost of Rs 34 Crore. The 4 storey building has total covered area of 1,58,000 sq.ft. It has provision for 16 wards, 26 beds, OPD rooms, Private Rooms, HOD Rooms, Multiple Halls, library and other related facilities etc.
Govt. Rehabilitation Institute for Intellectual Disabilities (GRIID – ASHADEEP), Sector-31, Chandigarh
is a premier institute in India for providing comprehensive health and educational facilities for more than 450 children with intellectual disability, autism, cerebral palsy and multiple disabilities.  A new Block-A has been built on 67000 sq ft covered area. The project worth Rs.9.00 Cr has a 4 storey building with 1 basement and have provision for 36 class rooms, computer room, play rooms and waiting room, dinning room, music room, crèche, sick rooms etc.
Among those accompanying the Administrator were Smt. Kirron Kher, Member of Parliament, Sh. Manoj Parida, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, UT, Chandigarh, Sh. Ajoy Kumar Sinha, IAS, Finance Secretary, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar, IAS, Deputy Commissioner Chandigarh, Sh. B.L. Sharma, IAS, Education Secretary, officers of Chandigarh Administration and other dignitaries from the city.

Administrator Launches Website of Sports Department Chandigarh

Chandigarh, 18 th  December 2018:  The website of Department of Sports, UT Chandigarh  http://www.sportsdeptt.chd. gov.in  has been launched today  by Hon’ble Governor Punjab & Administrator, U.T, Chandigarh, Shri. “Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections. As part of this campaign, IMA has designed stickers with the message “Vote for a healthy democracy”, which will be stuck on all the prescriptions of patients.
