Meeting held to maximize SVEEP campaign

Chandigarh, 19th March, 2019: A meeting was held today under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner cum Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Sh. Mandip Singh Brar with the Head of Departments & officials to discuss various SVEEP activities undertaken by them under the SVEEP programme.
During the meeting, officials from CITCO, Chandigarh Transport Undertaking, Chandigarh Pollution Control Committee, Tourism & Estate Office discussed ideas & mediums to maximize voter awareness and participation. In order to improve participation of all sections of electorate, suggestions were made by each officer on how their department can play a role to boost the awareness programme and motivate the voters.
The Election Commission Chandigarh has been conducting various mass mobilization activities under the SVEEP programme in the city. These initiatives include Voters’ Helpline 1950, Voter list available online, awareness seminars, Voters’ Facilitation Centres at Sampark and EVM familiarisation camps at schools, colleges, medical institutions and public offices with mock polls and dummy polling stations to provide the public with information regarding the how, when and where of voting. Radio and Social Media campaigns are also simultaneously run by the department to help the public register themselves as voters and exercise their right to vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation program, better known as SVEEP, is the flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
