National Immunization Day (NID) from 10th March – 12th March, 2019


Chandigarh, 8th March 2019: National Immunization Day (NID) is going to be observed throughout the country from 10th March – 12th March, 2019. In the same regard, Immunization will be carried out for the children from 0 to 5 years of age. It is going to be a three days activity whereby on first day i.e.  10th March, 2019 shall be a booth activity. The vaccination of all eligible children will be undertaken at the booths established by the Health Department within the health facility as well as at various identified sites. Chandigarh has been divided into four zones and total numbers of approximate 450 booths have been established.

Private Colleges of Chandigarh including Engineering Colleges have come forward to be a part of the immunization drive and the students of nursing colleges are going to take part as volunteers to immunize the kids with oral pulse polio drops. Training regarding the same has been imparted to them. The second and the third day i.e. 11th and 12th March, 2019 shall be observed as house to house activity whereby the health teams will be going house to house to cover the remaining 0 to 5 year old children. The activity will also be observed at the Transit points with the help of Police Personnel. This massive activity is being carried out with the inter departmental cooperation of various departments like Traffic Police, Social Welfare, Education, Health etc. The departments are extending support by way of giving manpower to carry out this mammoth task.
The monitoring of this activity shall be undertaken by the Supervisors, and the special monitors from World Health Organization (WHO). Special emphasis shall be laid upon the high risk/vulnerable areas. As an advent to cover each and every child in the city, TAARE ZAMEEN PAR – A NIGHT VIGIL is also being undertaken by the Health Department whereby special teams shall be going to the areas where the homeless/nomads/ rag pickers/ beggars etc tend to settle down during night hours with their children.
It is an appeal to the residents to cooperate with the Health Department by bringing their children to the booth on 10th March, 2019 to get the maximum benefit from this vaccination drive and help in sustaining a Polio free Chandigarh and a Nation.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
