Chandigarh, 10th
March 2019: The Election Commission of India has announced
Elections to Lok Sabha today i.e. on 10.3.2019 and with the announcement of the
Election Programme, the Model Code of Conduct has come into force. As per the
programme of elections announced by the Election Commission of India, Polling
of Chandigarh Parliamentary Constituency will be on 19-05-2019.
As per the
Electoral Roll finally published on 28.1.2019, the total electors of Chandigarh
Parliamentary Constituency are 6,19,249 and the Service Electors are 355. 597
Polling Stations have been setup in this Constituency, out of which 212 polling
station falls under sensitive categories and total 191 polling stations
locations. As per the directions of Election Commission of India the webcasting
will be done in all the polling stations in the current elections.
This
Constituency has set up District Call centre with 1950 toll free number in
which any resident can make a call and get the updated information regarding
their votes and on election. 1950 will be operational 24x7 for the facility of
electors and citizens. The residents can also register their complaint on 1950
in any time, it will be functional 24x7 by 11.3.2019. Also, a control room of
the Returning Officer has been set up at 1st floor, Conference room, DC Office,
Sector 17. This control room shall function as the Nodal point for resolution
of all complaints and shall coordinate between various teams involved.
Returning Officer Cell has been established in the 1st floor of Deputy
Commissioner Office situated in Sector-17, Chandigarh.
The Nodal
Officers on various subjects has already been appointed and these nodal
officers are fully functional during the Election period. New C-Vigil app has
been launched by the Election Commission of India in which any resident can
lodge the cases relating to violation of Model Code of Conduct. On receiving
the complaint, the flying squad shall reach at the place of incident within 15
minutes and report back within 30 minutes to the officer concerned. In this
app, the complainant has to capture the image or videograph the incident so
that the action can be initiated within 100 minutes. The Nodal Officer for
expenditure monitoring has also been appointed to check the day to day account
of the contesting candidates. One Expenditure Monitoring Cell has also been
created.
Various types of
teams i.e. Video Surveillance Teams, Video Viewing Teams, Static Surveillance
Team, & Flying Squad teams, accounting teams have been appointed and have
started working from the day of announcement of General Elections to Lok
Sabha-2019. 9 (Nine) flying Squads and 9 (Nine) Static Surveillance Teams have
been appointed for the three sub divisions of Chandigarh and shall be
operational 24x7. These teams will be headed by the Executive Magistrate and
shall ensure enforcement of Model Code of Conduct. Sh. Anil Garg, PCS has
