Secretary Social Welfare Inaugurates Poshan Pakhwada in Chandigarh


Chandigarh, 8th March 2019: The Anniversary of POSHAN Abhiyaan with Women day celebration has marked up 1 year in the Nation on 08th March, 2019; First Anniversary of POSHAN Abhiyaan has been celebrated with inauguration of “POSHAN Pakhwada” as made by Chief Guest Mr BL Sharma, IAS, Secretary of Department of Social Welfare and Ms. Navjot Kaur, Director, Department of Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration respectively. 

A Splendid Platform was developed by Department of Social Welfare and Govt. College of Home Science for the inauguration of “POSHAN Pakhwada” which will primarily focus on the Nutrition centric indicators by creating awareness and advocacy among target population as beneficiaries.
Throughout Chandigarh, Lot of key activities has been conducted related to Women & Childs Rights, Health and Nutrition by creating campaigns, awareness rallies, Marches and Group Walks in the communities like Khuda Ali Sher, Kaimbwala Kajheri, Adarsh Colony, Buterla along with Anganwadi Workers, Anganwadi Helpers, Childrens and local ladies as well as Women walk on POSHAN Pakhwada at rehabilitation colony, Dhanas.

“POSHAN Pakhwada” is a ongoing activity procedure from 08th March to 22nd March 2019 in which all in line Departments like Department of Social Welfare, Department of Health, Department of Higher Education, Food & Nutrition Board, PGIMER, FSSAI, Water and Sanitation, & Mahila Shakti Kendra etc; will work collaboratively for ensuring the achievement of POSHAN Abhiyaan indicators on the basis of specific key interventions and activities. With reference to this, POSHAN Pakhwada has been celebrated along with advocacy on International Women’s Day too at Mauli Village in Anganwadi Centres respectively. The theme i.e. “Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change” focuses on innovative ways in which we advance gender equality and empowerment of women for achievement of sustainable development goals by 2030. 

The Occasion was attended by many other in line departments like State Legal Service Authority, Department of Health, Department of Higher Education, Food & Nutrition Board, PGIMER, FSSAI & Mahila Shakti Kendra, AIDS Control Society and POSHAN Abhiyaan representatives respectively.

“Vote for Healthy Democracy” Campaign

Chandigarh, 18th March, 2019: Taking the “Vote for Healthy Democracy” campaign forward to motivate citizens to use their Right to Vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of Chandigarh, Government Medical College & Hospital, Sector 32, Chandigarh today launched a stamp with the message of "Voting is your Right, Please Cast your Vote". The stamp will be included on all the OPD cards of the patients who visit the hospital.  This initiative is a part of the drive undertaken by Medical Community to motivate more and more people to participate and vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
